OMG never again!

I guess I got a little over confident in my ability to handle 2 kids in public because things have been going fairly well. At least until this afternoon. Now I'm almost too scared to bring them both out in public without an extra set of hands to help out.

At around 3PM I felt a surge of energy (must be all that working out! lol) and thought I'd make the afternoon go by a little faster by taking the kids to Target for a Starbucks iced coffee (for Mommy only) and some window shopping.

I knew I should have turned right back around into the house when I felt how HOT it was outside. I already felt kinda on edge and I'm sure the kids did too. I hadn't even left the driveway when I realized that I didn't have a drink for Noah. I rolled all the windows down and turned the engine off and ran into the house to get one.

Anyway...we get to Target and I find one of those carts that has toddler seats attached to it. I figure I'd need that so that Noah could sit strapped in while Caleb's infant carrier could sit in the cart itself (sidenote: people down here call shopping carts "buggies." sigh.). In theory it was a good idea. In theory. Noah gave me a hard time about sitting in it. I had to strap him in while he was standing up. Seriously. Oh and don't forget while I'm fighting with him, its a sweltering 98 degrees outside. So now I'm sweating and I have a 2 year old yelling, "No! I don't want it!" I go over to Caleb's side of the car, grab his infant carrier and place it in the part of the cart where the kid should sit...right on top of Noah's finger. Noah's starts screaming bloody murder, I'm freaking out because I maimed my child, we're all hot and sweaty and Caleb decides to join in on the fun and start crying too. ARGH!

I finally wheel the cart out of the parking lot and toward the store...this is when I realize that this thing is hard to maneuver! I have to keep both hands on the thing or it starts to steer to the right or left. This is also when I realize that Caleb's infant carrier is not safe in the spot I put it in. I stop (while we're still in the parking lot) and move him to the actual cart so that there isn't any risk of him falling. That would be just my luck.

We're in the store for 10 minutes before Caleb decides to cry even louder...I'm all frazzled and grab a pack of diapers and a $1 Matchbox car for Noah since I nearly amputated his finger. We check out and get back into the car and all is well with the world....

Only I find out when I get home that I didn't pay for that $1 Matchbox car... :P Oh and I didn't get my iced coffee!
